I am graduateing a year early, I should be graduateing in 2011 but I will be in 2010, and I am 90% sure I will graduate with a GPA of 3.3 to 3.5.
My highschool credits will include:

Science (sci1, bio lab, chem lab, phis lab)
S.S./History (AWC, Euro history, U.S. history)
Spanish (1,2,3)
Art (Foundations, Drawing, Sculpture)
Health (Basic, Independant living)
PE (1,2)
Afterschool I’m involved in:
Art Club, Interact Club (for charities), and will be on student counsol again this coming year, I was on my freshman year for 2 mounths I am also a mentor, this spring I’m volenteering at the YMCA with the daycare program, and this summer I am volenteering at the childrens hospital.
So what do you think?
And I have read the website, college handbooks at Boarders, and many other websites. They all say different things about getting in there. So I thought I would give this a try
thanks
Well first off, I would ask your couselors/principle if you can go back to your old class. Highschool is not nearly the same without good friends in the same classes as you, but that’s a different story.
1. I honestly don’t see why you’re graduating early I’m sorry to say. Usually kids who move up a grade incredibly smart and taking the hardest classes possible, where as you are in no AP or IB classes. Because you aren’t in any AP, IB, or even honors programs, this will hurt you, colleges love students who challange themselves.
2. Your GPA is solid, do not let anyone tell you “you can’t get into college X with that GPA”, ignore the numbers, there are plenty of outliers, and there is no minimum GPA.
3. While being in extra cirriculars is good, yours don’t appear they will help that much. Being on the student council is good if you CONTINUALLY stick with it, but you say you only did it twice, one time was for a short period of time. And you don’t say you were a leader in any of these organizations, president, treasurer, etc.
4. The volunteering will help.
5. I’m not sure how graduating early will affect you. It COULD just as well be a detriment to you. The colleges will ask at an interview, so be ready.
You don’t stand out too incredibly well unless graduating a year early gives you god like powers. But there are plenty of applicants like you, who do get in. So, you have a shot as much as anyone else, and I wish you the best of luck.
