i have always wondered whom I rate more lara or sachin. i have read several views and comments about both of them. After reading all I decided to compare these two in my own way.
Whenever we talk about test cricket it is always difficult to decide “Who is better”? Both have their own merits. lara is better when it comes to playing match winning innings,he is also more elegant and also he scores big hundreds. tendulkar is better when it comes to consistency and technical supremacy.Both are great in their own ways. But in a larger picture I personally feel that lara is half a inch better than tendulkar in test. As an indian it is hard to believe this but Ilike to tell you why this is so. Let’s compare 3 great innings of both.
1.lara:153 vs australia According to me best innings ever played .the target was 356 and WI lost 5 wickets quickly lara played gem of an inniings and won it single handedly for WI.similarly his 212 vs aussies and many more won matches for WI.
1.tendulkar:136 vs pak one of the finest I have ever seen but result: India lost
169 vs SA :trully worldclas innings from a worldclass batsman : result India lost
113 vs AUS :result india lost
these are facts which tells us that tendulkar is a genius but lara is a matchwinner.
But when I think deeper I realised that as abatsman tendulkar is better reasons are:
1 much better in ODI
2 better technique
3 consistency
4 concentration
thus I feel sachin tendulkar is best batsman of modern era when it comes to completeness
