Kindle 3g International

Kindle WiFi or 3G+Wifi?

I’m having a very difficult time figuring out which Kindle to purchase, I’d prefer the kindle 3 wifi, since its cheaper, but i was told by a friend i need to get the 3G + Wifi because it has international coverage. She only has the Kindle 2 however, so she isn’t sure if the differences with the new kindle 3. So, In Canada, Edmonton specifically, which should i have? I understand that wifi is available where there is a wifi connection, aka a home network or cafe, and 3g is available where there is a 3g tower in range, But i don’t care if i can only get wifi at home within my home network, So do i need to get the kindle with global coverage just to connect to the wireless network in my own house?

To simplify as much as possible, if i have the kindle 3 wifi, which does not boast “global wireless coverage in over 100 countries” will i be able to connect to my home wireless network, or will i need to download via usb?

For short answer, YES with Kindle 3 WiFi, you can buy books through wireless directly on the Kindle through your home wireless network.

For long personal answer, for me I’ll still choose 3G version, because I can access the internet and download books nearly anywhere, and even in foreign countries, and it is lifetime free 3G.

I’ve just given an answer to a similar question of choosing between Kindle 3G + WiFi or Kindle WiFi, previously in another answer here:
