Why are cons more consumed about passing draconian laws than protecting people’s individual rights?
You know they were going to get smacked down in federal court. Everyone who saw SB1070 as an illegal power grab by the state of Arizona knew this as well.
But now, some cons are complaining that people like myself are more concerned about the rights of the individual than upholding federal laws in regards to immigration enforcement.
Wouldn’t you be? The Patriot Act is one such example–passed without so much as a *whimper* under the Bush administration.
It clearly violated our rights as the individual, but the right didn’t seem to have a problem with it–until Obama took office and are now kicking and *screaming* about it.
But before? Not a peep of protest.
So how can they be more concerned about the rights of the people, when they are so consumed with passing laws that violate our nation’s bedrock principles and the Constitution?
When it comes down to what I consider important… government intervention and interference in citizens’ private lives… the “anti government” GOP is all for it.. these guys here advocate torture, indefinite detention without trial, no right to an attorney and denial of Miranda Rights when it comes to terrorism suspects, government intervention in romantic relationships (homosexual ones, that is), government intervention on what substances we can put in our bodies, and government intervention on a medical procedure a woman can have done, all based on their archaic Biblical morality.
