Why can’t people just carry a drivers license in Arizona?
According to SB1070 supporters, all you need is a driver’s license. So how come in one recent case near Phoenix, a Hispanic truck driver whose license and registration were in order was taken to the offices of the immigration service in handcuffs while authorities called his wife at work and made her go home to find the birth certificate showing he was born in the U.S.A.

The Texas Legislature is likely to consider requiring a Social Security card *and* a valid birth certificate for obtaining a driver’s license *and* for renewing your license. I suspect they will also include naturlization paperwork and/or valid work visas as “qualifying documentation”.
