Lodging in New York area?
I have to go New York City in March OR April for a month or so. The month depends on how soon I choose where I will stay. I will like someplace reasonable to stay where I can pay a weekly or monthly discounted rate. NO hostels or YMCA’s. It dont have to have kitchen or anything. I wont be there most of the day anyhow. But it must be clean and it must have a private bath. It also do not have to be available for the entire month. It can be for one week, two weeks or three weeks.
Also it do not have to be in NYC. It can be in Queens or Long Island too. I am not too keen on New Jersey as I find that I get too much traffic coming into NYC. I prefer someplace serviced by subway.
I may end up booking a hotel or something, but I like to explore all options before I decide. Any ideas out there?

You may want to look into subletting an apartment for the month you are up here. That could save you a ton. Lots of people rent out their whole furnished apartment while they go on vacation, etc for a small fraction of the cost of a hotel or even a hostel.
Another option may be a long term stay hotel. They are often much cheaper than a normal hotel if you stay more than 2 weeks.
There is a site which explains the process of subletting and all that. You may want to look into it before going on your search.
