What do you think Donations pour in to help state fight immigration lawsuits?
PHOENIX – One day after the federal government announced it’s suing Arizona over SB1070, donations are now pouring in to help the state defend itself against the lawsuit, and others, involving the new immigration law.
According to Paul Senseman, a spokesperson for Governor Jan Brewer, the legal defense fund had $163,304 from 3,236 donors as of Tuesday afternoon.
By Wednesday morning, donations jumped to $363,378 from 7,397 donors.
Senseman said people from all 50 states have made donations.
The largest single donation is $2,000. People have donated as little as $1.
In May, Gov. Brewer established the legal defense fund to accept private donations to help pay the legal costs in fighting challenges to SB1070.
