I’m trying to find a local bank in Las Vegas / Henderson with a good reputation…any suggestions?
I live in Henderson, NV and I need to find a local bank. I have an account with Bank of America, but I am sick of all the hidden fees and impersonal treatment. I was looking into Nevada State Bank, but I would appreciate some suggestions…
I also bank at Wells Fargo…and it’s staff seem very personable…BUT I understand that your question is looking for a LOCAL bank…not a national one…so:
Silver State Schools Credit Union is probably your best option, not technically a local bank…but credit union accounts make you a “member” or “owner” of the bank as well as an account holder…so, by structure… they are almost always more personalized. Credit unions also usually have better rates/qualifying for things like home/car loans, etc. ALSO, they have a wide variety of locations through town (5) including branches inside of grocery stores which should prove convenient for you….since they stay open later than most ‘regular’ banks (till 7 pm Mon-Fri)
Bank of the West has some local branches, its a good bank, but not too many branches and if you don’t live too close to one getting cash, etc may be too much of a hassle for you without paying those pesky “you used someone else’s ATM” fees.
One other LOCAL bank that deserves mentioning…is the Bank of George. It’s namesake is George Washington…but it’s founders/board of directors are local big-shots/business owners/executives and their people are VERY nice. They only have the one branch in the Henderson “area” though…on St. Rose Pkwy between Eastern and Seven Hills Drive. Not so convenient as far as ATM/cash access goes, but very personal and they “specialize” in small business lending to “professionals” (i.e. dentists, lawyers, etc)
US BANK and Nevada State bank are also fine options…but same issues…not too many branches…but Nevada State Bank has some branches in Henderson (5)…more in Las Vegas…but they do close earlier that Nevada State Schools (6pm vs 7pm)…
***Decision-maing tips: Credit Union vs Bank, 7pm (C.U.) vs 6pm (bank) hours, same number of Henderson branches…but depending on where you live, which one has branches most convenient to you. Personally, I’d lean toward the Credit Union option….usually less ‘account fees’…but check’em out.
